Beautification: Project Green
Information COMING SOON!
Litter Prevention: 10 on Tuesday
It’s simple – every Tuesday pick up 10 pieces of litter (or more!) and chunk them in the trash or toss them into a recycling bin, but don’t stop there.
-
Ask your friends, teammates, and colleagues to pick up 10 pieces of litter and encourage everyone to participate.
-
Encourage your family to participate at your home.
Together we can all be part of the solution. If everyone in Schulenburg would pitch in every Tuesday, just think of what we could accomplish.
And don't forget to snap a picture, post it on social media and use @keepschulenburgbeautiful to tag us!
Take the pledge today!
Waste Reduction:
And Then Curbside Recycling
This program was initiated in 2017 with the goal to help a young man with Autism find his purpose. Taking out the garbage was something he was taught to do, and he was able to do it successfully on his own. With that in mind, the And Then recycling program was born. Picking up the bags and properly disposing of them has become an exciting part of this young man’s routine. He has discovered a true sense of accomplishment through his work, and most importantly, he has fun doing it! This program has now grown to help other young adults with learning challenges pick up, break down, and properly dispose of recycling in our local area.
The Curbside Recycling Program offers local pickup to residents and businesses in our community. Offering weekly pickup encourages residents and businesses to recycle rather then throwing recyclables into the trash which inadvertently saves our town money on trash disposal, but also helps save the planet! The program is expanding and has plans to design and create new products made from the recyclables collected.
